Dentures
Dentures in Baymeadows of Jacksonville, FL
Most folks are first introduced to dentures as a child when they catch a Grandparent take one out of their mouth or perhaps find one sitting in a glass of water. A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth that has been around since before George Washington. While for some people the mere thought of a denture may seem horrific, we have seen hundreds of lives changed for the better with a properly fitting denture. Dentures today can not only be functional, but in many cases can also be a total cosmetic makeover. When teeth are lost, self-esteem and overall health can be lost as well. Dentures allow people to regain their appearance and maintain a proper diet. Today losing your teeth doesn't always mean you have to end with a removable denture. With the addition of Dental implants you can now replace a Denture with a Fixed Prosthetic or with what is called a Hybrid Denture. Dr. Rios has been helping patients' regain their confidence with Dentures in Jacksonville since he worked at Argyle Denture Center back in 2000.
Types of Dentures
Understanding the different types of Dentures can be mind boggling while the cost difference can be mind blowing. Dentures are not all the same. There are full dentures, partial dentures, fixed implant supported over dentures and removable implant supported dentures. There are also many different types of replacement teeth from different manufactures with some looking much more natural than others. Regardless of which type of denture you choose, at Baymeadows Park Dental, we collaborate with only the best labs who use quality materials and excellent craftsmanship. Dr. Rios and our team will take the time to evaluate your mouth and ideal tooth appearance in order to select the best tooth for you’re your unique needs. We also perform unlimited wax try ins so you can provide the final approval on appearance in your custom made Denture by Dr. Rios and our local Jacksonville Denture lab.
Getting Dentures at Baymeadows Park Dental
The denture process for a best fitting denture with Dr. Rios starts with a full evaluation at our Southside of Jacksonville dental office. A quality set of impressions are taken, followed by a try-in appointments and bite check. Once the customization is perfected, the denture is processed for final delivery. This process can take one to several weeks depending on appointment coordination. In special cases a Denture can be completed in a day with lab coordination.
Dental Check-Up & Exams
We look forward to helping you improve the appearance of your smile and oral health at its optimal levels.
Adjusting to Eating
While it might be difficult to eat foods like corn on the cob, after an initial period of adjustment, most denture patients are able to enjoy a wide variety of food. The bite force is less than 50% of natural teeth, so some things may take a little longer to eat. An upgrade to an implant-supported denture allows the bite force to feel more similar to natural teeth.
Denture Care
Dentures should be taken out every night before going to bed. They should be brushed with water and a mild detergent, and then soaked in water or a denture cleaning liquid overnight to keep the denture fresh and clean.
Even if you have a full set of dentures, it's important to keep your gums and tongue clean. Be sure to use a soft-bristled brush to gently clean your gums and tongue every day.
If by chance your dentures do break, please contact our Jacksonville dental practice and schedule an appointment with Dr. Rios as soon as possible. Broken dentures that don't fit properly can cause irritation to your gums and mouth. Also, remember to continue scheduling regular dental checkups every six months to make sure that your smile stays healthy for many years to come. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr Rios. I
have been a patient here for a number of years as are my children and husband. I have no hesitation recommending the whole practice. Dr Rios takes a real pleasure in his job, he is knowledgeable, professional but also very kind with a nervous patient such as I. Emily understands the patients and our needs. She remembers layered details about our dental care and family history that makes arranging dental care for our family so much easier.

Wonderful and thoughtful dentist and office staff. I had a broken tooth and they fit me into the schedule same day because they truly care for their patients. When I called, they ensured that I wasn't in severe pain and could wait a couple of hours for an appointment. They are extremely professional and make you feel like family.

I was so lucky to have found a family dentist who are dedicated and compassionate about what they do. The staff was very friendly from the time I walked in to the time I left everyone is very pleasant. Dr. Rios and Mrs.Emily made sure I was very comfortable and satisfied with the information that was given to me on how to move forward. I would recommend them to anyone who don’t know where to begin on their journey, and become a part of a wonderful team and family.

I called seeing if they took my insurance and the man on the phone said that they currently didn’t. I told him that the place listed on my card wouldn’t answer their phone/voicemails etc and he went out of his way to look the place up to see that the number I had was wrong and that’s why I wasn’t getting a call back. I truly appreciate that he went out of his way to help and can tell that they care about their patients. Such nice people!
